YAC in Triennale
In 2018, for two weeks, the Palazzo della Triennale in Milan hosted Pinocchio Children's Library, an exhibition celebrating the results of the collaboration between Young Architects Competitions and the Carlo Collodi National Foundation.
The competition invited designers to suggest a series of architectural solutions for the design of a large fairy tale library for children, which would be located in Collodi - the place where the homonymous author lived and wrote about the world’s most famous puppet.
As part of the Collodi European Capital of Childhood competition, the architects were asked to suggest a series of architectural solutions for a playful library, like a child's imagination: a place for games and fantasies, designed to let the kids dream, learn and build foundations of an adult personality.
With a very high-profile jury that included Italo Rota, Mario Cucinella, Fabio Novembre, and Emmanuelle Moureaux, the competition was an international success, attracting designers from all corners of the world: from New Zealand to Canada through South Africa and Brazil. Fifty projects were awarded, with a podium of 20,000 euros composed of French, Polish, Guatemalan, Italian, South Korean, and Spanish designers.
