Green Academy
The names of the winners of the international competition of ideas Green Academy, desired and supported by Unindustria Bologna and organized by YAC - Young Architects Competitions - in collaboration with DISMECO - have been announced. The competition saw an extraordinary international participation with hundreds of designers, from as many as 94 countries.
The aim of the project was the requalification of the former Emilian paper mill in Marzabotto, and its transformation into an educational-museum center and a facility of excellence for training, inspired by the principles of sustainable development and green economy. The Jury - composed of Mario Cucinella (MCArchitects ), Agostino Ghirardelli (Studio Libeskind), Ippolito Pestellini (OMA), Valerie Mulvin (Mcculloughmulvin Architects), Nicola Pizzoli (Unindustria), Claudio Tedeschi (DISMECO), Alessandro Marata (CNAPPC), Riccardo Gulli (UNIBO), Alessandra Bonoli (DICAM) - after a careful analysis of the numerous projects received, chose 3 winners, 4 Gold mentions, 10 honorable mentions and 30 finalists.
DISMECO - leading company in Europe in the decommissioning and recycling of electrical equipment and owner of an abandoned property (5,000 square meters attributable to Pierluigi Nervi's school), has for years been committed to the building of a more sustainable future, through the widespread reuse and treatment of complex waste. To this end, DISMECO has set out to establish the first school in the world dedicated to the culture of ecology and sustainability, which, thanks to the collaboration of several prestigious partners, will be the most authoritative international reference point for the application of innovative methods and advanced technologies, in the research, training and affirmation of sustainable disciplines. It will be a high-profile school, a recreational-experiential center for children, and a business incubator for ecological startups: in one of the most cutting-edge industrial contexts for waste recovery and disposal, the "recycling" of an architecture will allow the foundation of the first and most important school of Ecology and Sustainability, destined to become a global center for the realization of a more responsible society and a more sustainable future.
