To celebrate the group's 75th anniversary, Manni and YAC gather to launch a new competition of ideas aimed at designing a train station for Xi'an Fashion Town.
According to Manni Group, sustainability is not only a way of making business, but also an approach that promotes long-term development in accordance with the environmental and social context in which the company operates. The other main driver of growth, innovation, enables the company to respond to new market needs, as well as to improve production processes to make them increasingly efficient, effective and with low environmental impact, offering products with a high added value.
The first edition of Manni Group Design Award celebrates a 75-year history: "as a steel group, we feel a strong responsibility to reduce the impact of construction on our planet. Steel is increasingly becoming an attractive solution for the architectural world, providing an innovative system that combines freedom of expression, design and comfort".
This architectural competition was the occasion to make people think about innovative construction methods such as offsite and about concepts of environmental impact and circular economy, with the aim of spreading, in the world of architecture, sustainable behaviors and design choices.
The decision to hold an international contest, Xian Train Station, to stimulate designers on the urgent issues of sustainability in architecture was the squaring of the circle, and an enthusiastic response was received from the architectural community: the winners of Manni Group Design Award were announced among the excellent entries submitted from as many as 75 different countries.
The first prize was awarded to the Italian team Mograph Studio for the project "The Wave." The designers Giovanna de Simone and Matteo Amicarella chose The Ring as the symbolic form that connects the different systems involved in the project. It is a symbol of union, connection, as well as a 360-degree opening to the world, the ancient city and the future city. The unbreakable bond between these two elements was their inspiration: why not make this encounter more tangible, with a building designed to connect? This powerful encounter generates a green roof that hints at the mountain’s skyline of the Sichuan area, creating a beautiful succession of peaks and valleys that allows visitors to approach the building on different levels and walk the entire perimeter in an elevated park that walks above the railways, reconnecting the two halves of the area. As the land rises, it shows the roots of ancient China: here, with the time passing, between past and future, humans find their place.
